Original Xbox Repair How To Replace The DVD Drive Video

Used consoles bought on eBay often need some repairs. The main issue for the original Xbox is the DVD drive. If you keep getting  a "Disc Read Error" than more than likely the DVD drive has gone bad. There are two options to fix this: replace the laser from within the DVD drive or just replace the entire DVD drive. The easier option is to replace the whole DVD drive. I recommend using a DVD drive from an Xbox that has some other issue (bad software mod, power supply malfunction). Often times you can buy a few non-working Xboxes and put together some working ones to sell online. Or if you can find a cheap replacement DVD drive on eBay (which is becoming harder as these systems get older) you can do it that way.
